Toddlers are full of energy and curiosity. This is the age when your child becomes aware of their independence.

Our aim is to introduce learning through their everyday routines. We talk to you to get your insight into your child’s interests and needs. Your input helps us plan their program in a way that helps them build confidence, interact with others and develop new skills.

Our educators use the individual knowledge of a child to guide them through new experiences. We create new experiences in a way that interests them and inspires them to explore:

  • Early language

  • Literacy

  • Numeracy

  • Science

  • Environment

Your toddler’s communication skills move ahead at a remarkable rate. They progress from baby sounds to words and phrases. Your child’s educator will plan engaging ways to build early literacy skills and communication with others.

As toddlers become more active, it’s a great time for developing new gross motor skills too. So, our educators plan for plenty of active play, indoors and out.

Forming New Relationships

Toddlers also form bonds with adults outside their family. It helps them to understand who these adults are and what they can do.

These special relationships are the platform from which they learn to trust and explore, knowing they have a safe place to come back to.

Toddlers Develop a Whole New Range of Skills

Toddlers love to dance – which is a great opportunity for educators to help them develop coordination, creative expression, communication skills and social awareness.

Translating movement expression into words is also one of the stepping stones to developing literacy skills.

As well, by encouraging toddlers to express themselves in different ways, our educators help them develop a whole range of new skills. They learn:

  • New ways of communication

  • Creative thinking skills

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Fine motor skills

  • Self-confidence

It’s the Age of Discovery

For Toddlers, it is a world full of big ideas. Children of this age group are eager to use their newly-discovered independence.

We design our program to help them:

  • Find opportunities for starting conversations

  • Sharing ideas

  • Find out about their environment

  • Ask questions and make friends

Different interests and skills become clearer, and our educators use this knowledge to help your child learn about new concepts and ideas.

Our educators help enhance your toddlers’ development and stimulate your child’s imagination by guiding them through creative learning experiences and new intellectual challenges.

Building on skills already developed, our educator’s design stimulating play-based learning experiences to help children develop new skills around:

  • Literacy

  • Maths

  • Science

  • Social competence

  • Physical development

They also introduce opportunities for your child to discover new skills and interests.

Young Children Learn So Much by Imagining and Doing

Pretend play is an ideal opportunity for educators to help children develop a strong sense of themselves and others, along with problem-solving and reasoning skills, creativity and imagination.

Children in this age group love to investigate and make meaning of the world around them. It’s a great time for educators to encourage your child to:

  • Research

  • Observe

  • Find answers

  • Learn to think for themselves

At Voyage Education, we offer a Phonics program for children from the age of 2, in preparation for their early steps into literacy and reading.

Educators in the Toddler room are dedicated to helping your child grow into an enthusiastic, curious, knowledgeable, kind and innovative learner as they prepare for Preschool.

The Toddlers program develops children’s social, emotional, language and cognitive skills. Through:

  • Hands-on experiences

  • Structured group times

  • Large and small group play

  • Individual experiences

Children are able to develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, while also forming meaningful relationships with their educators and their peers.

Our educators value the skills children are building at this age. The Reggio Emilia early learning philosophy inspires our environment. Our aim is to provide a space for children to explore and develop at their own pace.
